Second Elzybells Peek

Elzybells sneakpeek label

Here is today’s peek from the new Elzybells release. I have two cards to show you this time, both from the Mini Messages Summertime clear set.  I love Elizabeth’s clear sets; not only do they have cute mini images, but also lovely little sentiments.  This new set is perfect for summer cards.

I thought that this barbeque image was just right for invitations to summer parties.  I used Daisy Bucket paper for the background, and some Prima flowers to embellish it a little, but as it’s a small image I didn’t want to overpower it, so I’ve kept the card simple.  I’ve coloured the images on both cards with Promarkers as usual.

Elzybells Sneak Peek 9

I used the miniature slice of water melon (mmm!) on my second card. Again, I’ve kept it fairly simple, as I didn’t want to overwhelm the image, and used some DCWV paper, and Bazzill Bling card to show off the stamp.  The only other embellishments are some scalloped paper ribbon, and tiny pink pearls.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s sneak peeks. Do call in again tomorrow to see some more cards! Don’t forget that tomorrow is release day at the online store.

3D at Tilda and Friends

This week’s challenge at Tilda and Friends is to make your ATC with a 3D element.  Here is my effort, using an ‘oldie’ Tilda from last summer.  I’ve coloured her with Promarkers, and added a touch of glitter to her wings.  I’ve  used foam squares on the back of the image to make Tilda stand out from the background. The backing paper is DCWV, and it’s also glittered, which adds more texture to the card.  I placed a piece of torn pink handmade paper at the side, then added some flowers and alphabet beads for extra dimension.

Colour Create Challenge

Colour Create is a new challenge blog to me, and as I love trying out different colour combination on my cards I thought I would make one on this week’s theme – Chocolate, Coffee and Cream – yum!  There is also an extra challenge, which is to add some distressing to the card.

Here is my card, using one of the very gorgeous ‘Gorjuss Girls’, from Sugar Nellie, for my image.  The swirls in the background were stamped with a Hero Arts clear stamp. The oval sentiment is from a new stamp set in the current mini catalogue from Stampin’ Up, as is the oval scalloped punch that I used to punch it out.  The ‘distressed’ brown cardstock is by DCWV; this has a white core that can be rubbed with sandpaper to give a worn look.  The corner accent is a Cuttlebug die-cut, and the flowers are by Prima.  The ribbon, DP and brads are all from my stash.

Card for a Child

Here is a card that I made for this week’s A Spoon Full of Sugar challenge.  The theme on this occasion is ‘A Card for a Child’, and I thought this sweet Hanglar & Stanglar image would be perfect for this.  I coloured her with Promarkers, and added a little touch of glitter to the stamped Heidi Grace scrolls on the corners. I used a scrap of red corrugated card to matt the image, and the background DP is by DCWV.  The beautiful sparkly chipboard snowflakes were from a magazine, and I attached them to the card with glittered brads.  The Noel sentiment is by Hero Arts, and was stamped in red ink, then matted onto a piece of red Bazzill card before being mounted onto the card.

Fluff and Stuff

This week’s challenge at Tilda and Friends involves using fluffy stuff on your ATC.  Any kind of medium which gives your ATC a dimensional and ‘fluffy’ look can be used.  I used Fun Flock from Stampendous on mine.  I coloured Magnolia’s Santa with Promarkers as usual, and cut him out.  I added glue from a glue pen to the tree, Santa’s beard, hat and cuffs.  My tip is to put plenty of flock on, press it lightly into the glue, leave it to dry, and then tip the flock onto a piece of paper and return it to the tub.  You may need to press it into the tub with something like a small teaspoon to fit it all in again – it seems to expand when it’s out of the tub!  I also flocked the white brads that I used on the top right hand corner.  This is done in the same way, but you can dip your brad in the tub of flock to cover it.  I held the brad with some tweezers, and gave it a quick blast with the heat gun to dry.  The sentiment is computer-printed, then cut into the arrow shape, and the DP is from DCWV.

Do come and join us in some fluffy fun at Tilda and friends this week.  We’d love to see your ATC!

Sweet Christmas Sugar

I love this gorgeous Nellie stamp – she looks so cosy with her winter outfit and teddy!  I normally prefer to make Christmas cards in the traditional colours, but I really enjoyed making this one in non-traditional pinks, pale blue and greens for a change.  The stamp is of course by Sugar Nellie, and is available from Funky Kits.  Nellie is coloured with Prisma pencils, using Sansodor and paper stumps to blend.  The background papers and coloured card are all by DCWV. I embossed the white cardstock with the Cuttlebug, using the the Snowflake Embossing Folder, and the sentiment rosette was die-cut with the scalloped circle Nestabilities set.  The sentiment stamp is by HOTP, and the flowers and brads are from my stash.

A New Card!

I’m sorry I haven’t posted a card for a while, but sometimes life catches up on me and stamping has to take a backseat for a bit. Here is a new card that I made using one of Elizabeth Bell’s gorgeous designs, which are available from Funky Kits. I originally made the card for a challenge, which came and went before I finished it, unfortunately. The sentiment stamp is by Elzybells.  Hope you like it!

I used:
Sweet Ebony stamp
Basic Grey paper
Cuttlebug embossing Folder
DCWV cardstock
Elzybells sentiment stamp
Handmade crochet flower
Brads and gems from my stash
