Another day, another challenge – or two…

I attempted to combine two great challenges with my next card. A fab new challenge blog, Friday Sketchers, have their first sketch, designed by the talented Claudia Rosa, up on the blog.

Friday Sketchers 1

As it is a lovely straightforward sketch, I also decided to use it for the Saturday’s Workout challenge. The theme here is to use handmade linen-look paper on your card. There are a few different techniques for this, but I chose to use glass paper rubbed across cardstock, first horizontally then vertically, to achieve a woven look. My glass paper is quite fine, which gives quite a subtle look, but you can achieve a coarser linen look by using a less fine grade of glass paper.

Then I stippled Distress Ink in Old Linen and Walnut into the grain made by the glass paper, which brings out the texture. The stamps I used are from Autumn Leaves Swirls, and the girl is by Art Journey. The backing paper is from K & Co’s Roam collection of designer papers, and flowers, brads and ribbon are from my stash.
